Heritage Workshops

The Historical Society of Alberta, through its Edmonton and District Historical Society chapter, presents a workshop for communities who are interested in hosting an Historic Festival. The three-hour workshop includes a powerpoint presentation, discussion periods and a workbook containing tips, forms, grant procedures, critical paths and other documents and information vital to the planning of Historic Festivals. Participants are invited to share their concerns and questions with our panel of experienced presenters. Currently there is no charge for the workshop, although hosts are asked to provide a venue and refreshments. However, should travel entail unusual expense, such costs would be assumed by the hosting community. To date four workshops have been held throughout the province, as well as a presentation at the National History Conference in October, 2005. Participants from the various communities expressed extreme satisfaction with the workshop and positive feedback has tentatively set further workshops into the planning stages.
