Edmonton and District Historical Society

Edmonton was the site of the Historical Society of Alberta when it was first formed in 1907. When the HSA was reorganized in 1958, the Amisk Waskahegan Chapter was formed in Edmonton. It was renamed the Edmonton and District Historical Society, incorporated as an independent society on October 1, 1991, and serves the area north of Ponoka.

Executive meetings are held monthly, usually the 2nd Tuesday, and the Annual General Meeting is held in April of each year.

Membership is available by filling out the membership form.

The special interests of the EDHS chapter are as follows: historic programming (Speakers Series, Special Events); walking and bus tours; presentations, especially during Edmonton and Athabaska District Historic Festival; Heritage Workshops; publications and educational materials; special educational programming in partnership at the Queen Alexandra History Centre.
