Each year from September to April, the Chinook Country Historical Society presents a series of historical lectures on a wide range of topics. These talks are routinely held at Fort Calgary on the 4th Tuesday of September, October, November, January, February, March, April and May, with the December meeting being combined with our annual Christmas Dinner. This Christmas event compliments our springtime Annual General Meeting, held on the 4th Tuesday in March. During the summer, members offer the public a variety of historical tours within the city of Calgary, a number of events known as Historic Calgary Week. Past events organized include talks on local history to schools and community groups, heritage walking tours, bus excursions for members and guests, cemetery walking tours given by members for the general public, and tours of heritage buildings under renovations for members only. All events will be posted on our Events page and at www.chinookcountry.org You can also click here Jan-Feb 2008 and here March-May 2008 to download the 2007-2008 program schedule in pdf format. To make Calgarians aware of the Society's functions, a quarterly newsletter is published and widely circulated. In addition, the Society offers the Elise Corbet Scholarship each year to an outstanding history student at the University of Calgary.
